Cath Valentine

I was born and raised in Cape Town, South Africa. I love travel and adventure and have visited and lived in various places around the world; some of the highlights being the beautiful Garden Route and Natal Midlands of my native South Africa, the tropical jungles of Madagascar, the ancient cities of Europe, beautiful National Parks of Texas and California in USA, and my cultural destination of choice Bali.

I am a qualified Occupational Therapist, registered with the HPCSA and have completed an Associate Coaching Course as an Integral Coach. My field of expertise is in mental health, particularly adapting to change, stress and anxiety related difficulties as well as burn out. I have had a lifelong interest in psychology, human development and behaviour. Over the years I have studied the leading experts in these fields and worked with hundreds of people in making simple but effective life long changes in all areas of their life.

My background

In my teens and early adulthood I struggled a lot with anxiety, having regular panic attacks and battling insomnia.

There were times in my life when I felt hopeless and depressed.

I needed to undergo my own transformational process to uncover how my life experiences and resultant beliefs were holding me back from living life to the full.

Through working with some of the world leaders in personal development, I have experienced the power of waking up to a new reality and shifting my beliefs to align with being an agent of change and bringing light into places where darkness reigns.

My work as an Occupational Therapist in Psychiatry introduced me to CBT based programs where I learned in depth the connection between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours.

Being involved in the development and implementation of these types programs over the years gave me repeated exposure to the benefits of working at the level of thinking in order to see real and long lasting behavioural change.

In our programs we were teaching people to become aware of their thinking processes and consciously change shift their thinking patterns away from those that were causing them dissatisfaction or distress.

When I became more involved in coaching and my own self-development, this opened up for me on a deeper level; I began noticing the power of the subconscious mind and how my limiting beliefs were shaping my thoughts and thus sabotaging my conscious efforts at overcoming difficulties and making progress toward success.

Further, it became evident that I was attracting situations, people and experiences that reflected my subconscious beliefs.

I realized that I could either produce patterns which served me and my ultimate goals or face being tripped up again and again, feeling like a failure.

With these insights I wanted to take my work further and be able to work in depth with clients over an extended period of time, not just solving the surface problems but exploring patterns of behaviour and underlying belief structures so that they may truly break free and experience long lasting and meaningful change.

I have manifested so many wonderful things using the power of intention – an amazing husband, two wonderful sons, world travel, a job that is aligned with my purpose and brings me fulfilment, time and location freedom, close relationships with family and friends. And I want that for you too!
